Dr. Sharon Burns, Executive Director
Sharon Burns serves as Director of Catholic Charities in Evansville, Indiana since March 2012. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Financial Planning from Purdue University in 1981, an M.S. in Consumer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1983 and a Ph.D. in Consumer and Family Economics from Purdue University in 1988. In 1998 she was named Executive Director of the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education and in 2008 assumed a position as Senior Vice President of the International Foundation for Employee Benefit Plans. During her 30 year career Dr. Burns has held faculty positions at Eastern Illinois University, The Ohio State University and Purdue University. In addition to her academic credentials, Burns holds a CPA (Inactive) license in the State of Ohio and has co-authored a book, How to Care for Your Parents’ Money While Caring for Your Parents. Josie Hughes, Support and Accounting Specialist
Josie Hughes is the assistant to the director and accounting specialist. She also provides translation and interpretation services for the counseling and legal services departments. She was born in Mexico City and came to the US as an exchange student. After finishing her exchange she returned to Mexico and worked for AT&T.
She returned to the US a year later, earned her US citizenship. She obtained an accounting degree and worked for American Finance/Springleaf Financial. Josie has two children and four grandchildren. Need to contact Josie? Email her here .
Kathy Halbig, Receptionist & Adoption Search Specialist
Kathleen Halbig is a graduate of Mater Dei High School and has served Catholic Charities for over 40 years. She was hired in 1966 as a secretary and left in 1979. She returned as secretary in 1989 and assisted in adoption work. She presently is receptionist and adoption search resource worker who also serves as support for other programs. Mrs. Halbig is married, has four children and five grandchildren.

Paula Wells, Support Specialist
Paula Wells has served as administrative support specialist since January 25, 2018. She has experience in property management, retail management, and bookkeeping. She was born in Evansville, but raised in Posey County. She graduated from North Posey High School and attended Ivy Tech Community College.
